windows me isn't the best operating system out there. Have you installed all the updates and service packs?

I have a spare PC that has Win ME and since it is not connected to the net, it does not have any up-dates. It works OK and does not shut down on it's own. I doubt it's an up-date issue.

If the fans are still running, but the screen appears to have shut down, pressing ALT CTRL & DELETE may restart the PC. If this is the case, Windows is still running-but there may be a problem with your graphics card ????

Start the PC in safe mode (press F10 key before the Windows Splash screen shows)Don't surf the net as your AV prog (and other progs)does not get loaded in this mode.
If you can use the PC without it shutting down, this may give you a clue.

Look in device manager to see if a problem is reported with the graphics card or drivers.

See what others on here suggest.

Check your power optins in Control panel. Make sure the hibernate feature is NOT enabled.
