My problem started when I changed my Celeron 433 for a P3 800 with 133fsb. First off my slot 1 adapter didn't support the coppermine P3 so I bought one which did. Now I have a problem booting my pc, it sometimes takes several attempts to boot successfully, stopping at various points during bootup. It doesn't only happen when booting from cold, it sometimes occurs during reboots but not so often. I have swapped the ram to eliminate this, I have also flashed the bios as the coppermine wasn't supported in the old version and I have reset the bios to default settings. None of this has helped. According to FIC who make my mobo, they have not tested the P3 beyond 667 mhz but I am assured by the shop I bought it from that it is ok. When it does boot it runs very nicely. Basic ystem details are KA6110 mobo (www.fica.com), P3 800 on a generic slocket, 512 meg pc133 ram, Win ME. Probably not a Windows problem but any help greatly appreciated.

Try updating the VIA chipset patches at
http://www.viatech.com/jsp/en/dr/driver.jsp
if you haven't already done it.Also have a look at
http://www.computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/13240.htmljust in case some of these things might be interfering with the boot.
