My PC froze during scandisk, when I tried to restart it message appeared "boot fail, insert boot up disk in drive A".The restore pack comes in 2 disks a cdrom and a floppy. And gives 2 options, either to run 2nd chance to take you back to a previous date or do a complete system restore to factory settings. When trying to run second chance, states invalid drive specification, second chance not installed on this computer, have used this once before with no problem. Then in desperation when trying to do a complete system restore, seems to be going ok until the process is about to commence then just freezes, flashing a sceen full of hex no's before reverting back to a previous screen and freezing on that. This is a TINY PC,warranty just expired, any suggestions would be greatly received.

Invalid drive specification can mean one of two things. Either the hard drive is not detected in the BIOS, or your system uses drive overlay software. To fix the former, try going into the BIOS (you usually press DEL or F1, F2 or another F key and then choose to load defaults (usually an "F" key). In any event, you should be able to see the hard drive on "Primary Master". If "Primary Master" reads "None" and resetting defaults doesn't bring it back, then the IDE controller on the hard drive has failed and will need replacing.

If the system uses drive overlay software, you'd normally be able to go to the manufacturer's web site and find a solution there. Unfortunately, Tiny Computers filed for bankruptcy last year and was bought out by Time Computers. You could try looking on Time's web site for a fix if the hard drive is visible in the BIOS: http://www.timesupport.com/
