Comment:

I have a 850 mhz, 512 RAM laptop with Windows 2000 ME and sometimes when I turn it on, I receive a warning saying "The IPHLPAPI.DLL file cannot start. Check the file to determine the problem. I did see a similar problem posted and the solution said to type sfc in their RUN box and try to extract the file. I could not get this to work. Someone please help me......Thank you

I have the same problem, but it is intermittant. It seems most likely to happen if I first boot to DOS mode then type win at the command prompt to return to Windows. The error message doesn't appear the next time I restart the computer.

I have been having the same problem with my Windows 98SE desktop. I found that IPHLPAPI.DLL is an Internet Explorer file.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;265093

I have IE 6.0 with SP1. I clicked "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "Add/Remove Programs", "MSIE 6.0", and clicked "Repair IE". After the repair completed, I rebooted and no problems. I rebooted another two times just to check and still no problems. Hopefully everything holds true.

dreihman,

Glad to be of help. If the problem starts again, uninstall and reinstall Internet Explorer, but make sure you have a clean copy of IE somwhere, because if you uninstall, IE will revert back to an older version if there is one, if not, that's where the disk comes in handy, because now IE is not present on your system at all. This is ony if IE is your only method of accessing the internet. If you have another browser on your computer, you can always download IE from the Microsoft website.
