Problem With HP Scanner And HP Printer

I am posting this message for my friend. He has a brand new computer with 1gighertz, 60gig, cdrw, ME,pentIII, 56kmodem. I do not know the make of the computer. He just upgraded to the above brand new computer. He has a brand new HP printer parallel port that plugs directly intothe back of the HP new scanner. He has gone to the HP site and has updated any and all drivers. The problem is that he can not get the scanner to work. An error message comes up and both the scanner and printer will now not work. What is werid is that it also disables the keyboard. I had told him to just use the scanner without the printer. But, that is when he told me that the printer plugs into the scanner. Anyways, do you have any suggestions as to what the problem might be? He has uninstalled and reinstalled several times, to see if he could fix the problem. But, it looks like he is baffled now. I believe he has uninstalled both items now. He was using an older HP printer with his old computer system win98, and had no problems. The problem started when he just recently bought a brand new printer and a new scanner. I appreciate any and all advice. We need to get his printer and scanner both going again. PLEASE HELP!!! I am also having a problem with my new computer and an HP Scanjet 3200C scanner. Creates a windows error (PPSCAN) and the windows shows a Stimon problem as well as a kernel32.dll problem. No help on the HP site but have sent a message for assistance.

Have been having problems with my scanner also. Have an HP 6250 Scanner that worked fine on my old system, under Win95. Bought a new system with WinME and can't get scanner to work. The "patch" will not install - I get "OS error" during installation. Spoke to HP Tech Support to no avail-- they said, "gee, must be a glitch in the patch". That was 2 months ago. If you find a solution, please let me know. I've tried everything! Meanwhile, the scanner continues to gather dust.

Having the same problem with 6200C scanner. Patch has OS error that shows up during install. Any help would be most appreciated. Too many scanners serving as cup holders!!!
