When I go to a website that shows Quicktime clips on the web...as soon as the clip begins to play...there is a lot of activity sound on my harddrive and the screen frezes...the activity of my harddrive remains constant for as long as I am at the site...I then have to do a ctrl + alt + delete to get it to stop and then I close that web page...what can this be?

is it background loading quicktime to your pc? or do you already have it?

if it is downloading quicktime, you will get no warning until it has finished and is ready to install!

if you already have qt, is it set to be the default player for the types of movie you are trying to watch?

Version 6...I updated the plugin...but this particular problem is when I go to a website that plays a Quicktime clip from the web...it does not bring up my Quicktime Player which is for Windows...I have Windows ME...and only 64 Mb SDRAM PC100 memory...that could be the problem...but even when I try to view the clips with no other programs running...and even after a fresh reboot...this problem exits...yet when I watch a Windows Media PLayer clip from the web...or a RealOnePlayer clip from the web...this problem does NOT happen...only with Quicktime...but I have downloaded Quicktime files onto my harddrive and can play them with no problem...it only seems to happen when a Quicktime clip is being shown from a website...like apple.com or other websites...the website opens its own Quicktime Player...the 5 second clip shows...and a few seconds later....I hear the hard drive working...the little red light on the front of my tower comes on...meaning the hard drive is working...and it stays working for as long as I am on that web page...one minute...two minutes...it stays working constantly and the screen freezes up like until I ctrl + alt + delete to close it...and I have all file associations checked off to play with Quicktime...and I am not sure it is my default player but that should not matter in this case since the website automatically opens its own QuickTime Player...mine does not open since they are using their own on their website...
