OKIE. I have been pretty much a comp idiot, but much better nowadays... I know as much as how to re-format my comp...but AHHH!! I am having prob with a clean installation of Windows ME!
Well. I re-formated my comp's C: drive. I downloaded a Windows ME from Kazaa, and burnt it using Nero as "bootable disk" with windows ME's startup disk(which is also downloaded from Kazaa). Anywayz, I don't know what is wrong but I can't install windows ME still. I changed the booting sequence to primary CD Rom drive. I typed in setup.exe during A:\>, E:\>. Both didn't work. They gave me this msg:
OK, assuming you have your windows me cd and your windows me start up disk... Set your bios to boot floppy first, cd second and hdd third. Start your computer with the floppy in the A drive and choose start with cd support. When you computer starts and goes to the A:\> prompt you should find out there are at least four drives on your machine. a:\, your floppy c:\, your hdd d:\, a ramdrive created for install purposes e:\, your cd-rom If you've already done all this then it sounds like your install cd can't be read by the cd-rom. Try any other cd in the drive and type "dir e:\" [enter]. Does it read that cd? Post back; you'll get help.
I hope i'm not being paranoid, I have both ad-aware and spybot installed. The first time I ran ad-aware I couldn't believe all the spyware! I removed everything both programs found, which was a lot, with no problems. As for as downloading a whole operating system off the internet leaves too much for the hacker! John...
