Problem after loading McAfee Anti-V

After loading 2005 McAfee Anti-Virus, I checked their website for updates. It found one and downloaded it. I then Rebooted the pc like they said. The PC now will not boot back up. It goes thru all the initial stuff but stops before actually opening ME??????

Do you get any error messages or does it just freeze? What do you do when that happens?

I upgraded to ME then installed McAfee 2005. On bootup with McAfee 'Shield' on there is a 2/3 minute extra delay.Desktop loads but screen freezes with mouse moving.Floppy light comes on and times out during this period so McAfee is checking).Worse when I went on McAfee site to update virus list and re-booted PC hung at same point (no floppy light) and had to crash out and cold boot. Restarted in 'Safe Mode' (using F8) and had to turn off 'Shield' to get back in. PC booted OK then. McAfee usual unhelpful site unless you want to talk on landline at pemium rates.No answer other than to turn off 'Shield' at boot up and switch on after which is inconvenient.
