Suddenly at the bottom of certain pages, such as this one, there is an icon, when you click on it, it says "privacy report". What is that and HOW did it get there? How do I get rid of it or do I need to keep it there?

I'm assuming you have IE6...

On my machine,it's a prompt to accept or deny cookie(s). How you choose to manage your cookies is a personal prefernce.

I have mine set to block third-party cookies and prompt for first-party cookies.

Internet Options/Privacy tab is where you can adjust your settings,if need be.
