I have a HP pavilion computer and a HP deskjet 697C printer. All of a sudden my printer began to print out ascii characters instead of what I wanted. uninstalled programs loaded after it started. reloaded the printer driver. when trying to install the printer driver, the program does not notice the printer @ LPT1 (and it is there). removed device from system device menu and reloaded that. It started to print right, but then went back to the characters. Had blue screen with something about "too many VXD drivers" from time to time, but have no idea if it is related. Down to wits end. Any of these symptoms ring any bells? any help would be great.
