My printer is faulty. It has been a fab machine for 7 years. I put a colour and a new black cartridge in but the print is still not good. There are spaces in it and the black is pale. I went into the settings and cleaned the nozzles and the head and when I tried printing the black was the same but there was colour missing i.e. it didn't print pink or red. I then tried installing the printer again but the damn pc wouldn't let me........they are so clever these machines. Does anyone know what else I can do or is it that the printer has had its life and died on me

This may be a stupid question, but did you try opening your printer options and do a "clean the print cartridges?" (thats what its called for mine anyway. what brand printer do you have?

Hi again Maxie, I thought me last message had solved your problem; however the following could be another reason for you problem. Do you use original or compatible cartridges? I find that some replacement cartridges that you have to remove not only the yellow strip from the top of the cartridge but also the whole of the blue and check that the small holes in the top of the cartridge are clear, these allow the air to replace the ink that is used, if they are blocked a vacuum is caused and the ink cannot flow. I have had some faulty cartridges where I could get no joy at all. If they are compatible cartridges try another make. Hope this helps. David
