I had to do a recovery of windows from a recovery disc. After I recovered the os I tried to reinstall the software to the printer. During the install the setup gave an error message saying that it could not find the Printer. I then went in to device manger and look at the Printer com port to see if there was a conflict and there was not. What i want to know is what causes the setup for the printer software to not be able to see the printer. I have doubled check to make sure that everything is hooked up correctly. The printer is a cannon super G3 and again i am using windows me.

Try uninstalling the printer software, then disconnect the printer and shutdown the computer. Then restart the computer and shutdown again. Connect the printer and turn the computer on, when plug and play detects the printer as new hardware detected then reinstall the printer software when requested. You can also to the printer manufacture's website and make sure you have the latest ME drivers for the printer, and do the same procedure.
