primary ide controllers

I have an HP Pavilion 7840 thats missing it's primary IDE controller drivers. It doesn't have the original hard drive in it. When I look in device manager under disk drives, the hard drive is not listed, only floppy drive. Could this be why the primary ide drivers are missing?

You need to install the Motherboard Chipset drivers. The Chipset is Intel 810

In Device Manager what does it say under the? +Hard Disk Controllers? -Intel 810? -Primary IDE Controller ? -Secondary Ide Controller ? Are they enabled in BIOS ?

Intel 82801AA Bus master ide controller "!" beside primary ide controller. secondary controller is fine. yes in bios
