Dear people,
I was doing my first partitioning when the power on my powerkey meter went down.
I froze in terror and my concerns were justified, at least for my level of knowledge.
Now my computer wont boot or do anything.
Please help me. What should I do?
When I try to boot it up it sais "invalid system disk", I put in the rescue boot disk, it accepts it, it does a few things and then horror... it asks for master cd 1. I have no master cd 1. When I bought the computer they did not give me any OS. PC World buy...
Please can anyone help me?...
Thanks.

Rescue boot disk? Was this provided with the PC? Is it a floppy? If so its probably meant to start the computer so you can reinstall with a set of recovery disks. If you dont have recovery disks you cant reinstall.
You will probably need to purchase a copy of windows. Your software and data are probably gone.
What were you using to partition with? FDISK? If so.. FDISK removes the operating system. If it was 3rd party software like partition magic you may or may not be able to recover. Im not sure if it has a rescue option. It definately should have a warning lable.
If your PC contained very important data you can send the HD into a data recovery service. Its usually expensive and theres no guarantee.
Stick around for more advice.

the first thing to try depending on what you were using to partition with, are the recovery disks you were prompted to make with partition magic, if you didn't get that far
you could try using your win me startup disk
and at the a: prompt type sys c: and press enter, it will respond system transferred,
take out floppy and reboot, if your windows files are still intact this might get you into windows, or it may just get you to a c: prompt, where you could type dir and see if
the c:\windows\options\install folder is still there and run setup and reinstall windows to c:\windows
it's worth a try anyway.
goodluck with it, on e-bay windows me cd are fairly cheap.
