Recently have been having issues with my sound just cutting out at random times during games or just listening to music. I asked for Tech Support help on the Compaq website and they just kept telling me to update my drivers, which I have done.

I've pretty much exhausted all my options except one thing that may be wrong with my IRQ settings. the IRQ 10 slot which is running my sound card (SoundMAX Intigraded Digital Audio) is also being used by ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ steering.

Now i'm not sure if this would be causing a problem with my sound to be cutting out and returning at random times, so thats why I posted this problem.

I have attatched a Screenshot of my IRQ settings.

IRQ sharing is a feature of Modern O/Ses and should theoretically not cause a problem.

It may be time to buy a PCI Sound Card and disable the onboard sound.

Also 128MB memory is severely limiting your PC you should ideally have at least 256mb if not 512mb....................

For WinME?? I don't think so.

Sharing shouldn't be a problem, 'but' - have you tried manually setting the card's resources from Device Manager? Tried removing the card's listing there and allowing the OS to find & reinstall?

Reinstalled DirectX?

"Tried everything" or "exhausted all my options " doesn't really give much of a clue as to what has actually been attempted

Resist the temptation to close your request for help with semantically-null questions like “Can anyone help me?”

If its intergrated onboard sound ,then I would definitly think about the previous posters suggestion on installing a PCI sound card they are very affordable ,and much more reliable then the intergrated onboard sound ,same goes for graphics also .My system(P3 750MHZ) came with both intergrated sound and graphics and even though this was my first PC ,following the directions supplied I was able to change both , AGP Graphics card and PCI sound card ! When it comes to playing games ,it improved my system ten fold !
Good Luck Nick
