hello over the past two weeks i have received hundreds of port scans from the same ip.za whoisis shows the originating computer to be part of verio net.i have done complete nav scans in safe mode with nav configured to the highest levels and nada.
as i am using a cable connection i am wondering if a program might be accessing this computer before za loads.za does not show any unusual programs trying to reach the net.any suggestions?

well, if ZA loads before your modem connects you got nothing to worry about (assuming it blocks everything you want blocked), and if it doesn't maybe you could set the modem to connect after ZA is loaded. I don't know how you got it configured, but my firewall loads at startup and is on when I connect to the internet.

make sure theres only one copy of internet explorer running. new sub seven trick is to open a seconed one at same time as your first.set i.e to allways ask permision. and look in you enlarged zap window and see if more that one i.e windows is acessing the net.

A 'port scan' by itself is harmless and not necessarily an indication of a problem. Are any particular ports being scanned?
