hello recently popups have been freezing my computer.ctl-alt-del seems to be the only way around this ..any suggestions would be appreciated.

col ie6 is a little sluugish to launch ..home page opens.sits idle for a moment..then becomes active when cable modem suddenly shows receive..as soon as the popups come the system stops responding.

asssuming that is the adverts that are causing the problem
there are many browser enhancements which offer the ability to squash the little bastrds

works for me

i got pop-up stopper from hotfiles.com (zdnet). works well, is free.

I have Advertizing Killer and it really works great and I think it uses alot less resources and its free, also (see the little red circle with a white dash in it at the bottom of your screen)double click it, and click settings click edit, put the www.or http:// address you want to block in there together with advertizing Killer I now do not get any pop ups, its great and once in a while when I go to a new web site I will get one and I just put it in, if you need address please ask. I will look it up. Sue

Also you need to download AdAware from Labasoft, you may have some spyware on your machine.....Sue
