I have been having the worst results with USB card readers. I had installed a ZIO! smart card reader a while back and was never able to get it to work. I did, however, manage to allow that supposed drive to permanently capture drive letter H: !! Then, whenever I attempt to access that drive or utilize the reader, the entire system locks up tight. Ctl/Alt/Del can't even help me -- it's a hard reboot, nothing less. Then, ever since, the Zio!(H:) appears in the My Computer listing of available drives (although it really isn't accessible) Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is there any simple solution to this problem?

darrel d., may not help at all...worth a try. Windows can detect new hardware that it didn't know about during the boot process. Be sure the drive in question is connected and shut down the computer. Re-boot and see if it detects the 'H' drive and go from there. HTH. Ed in Texas.
