I have a 100mhz bus speed in my PC, I would like to add more memory. I was told that pc 133 would work in a pc100 board. After buying the memory fron tigerdirect, the memory that I boughtwould not work in a pc 100 board..... Is it that some pc133 memory works in a pc100 board or was it just that memory that I bought. Also I would like to buy 512 168pin memory ,, Have any leads let me know Thanks Ron

133 memory usually is backward compatible, but it will function at 100, not 133. The best place to get 168 pin memory exactly made for your computer is from Crucial Memory. Their banner it at the top of this page, as they are advertisor of this forum. They have great service and offer high quality memory that is fully guaranteed.

The pc 133 stick would/should just run as pc100.
Do yourself a big favor, return that stick to TigerDirect (who I think suck),and buy your memory from Crucial.com
The new high density PC133 is only recognized at half size on older boards not designed for high density chips. There is probably an explanation of this somewhere on the Crucial site. The issue is high vs low density, not speed. It was after I brought some Crucial Ram and returned it that I found that only the older low density PC133 is backward compatible. Up to about a year ago the old pc133 was easy to get , at least up to 256mb. Now it seems like it's all high density.
Summary: hello you can use pc133 in place of pc100 its back wards compatable but you cant use pc100 and pc133 in the same computer at the same time. must all be the same speed. ...
