Pc keeps on shutting down

Big Problem! Whenever I boot up my pc,it loads up to the start up screen and it just shuts down. It even shuts down when loading to safe mode! It was working fine yesterday, I don't see how could this happen. I browsed through some forums, and some suggested it was the power supply. Is this a possible problem in my case?
Plus, this is my father's problem with his computer. His computer runs slower than usual and sometimes a message pops up, tellig him theres a problem with his PHLPAPI.DLL. I think its spyware, but then again I'm not computer expert.

Mine was doing that for a while, as well. I took the thing in and it turned out to be the "pwer box cooling fan". You may want to check that out. I replaced the fan and no more problems, (at least, the shutting down problem was gone)! Hope this helps,
