My computer originally has an oem wins me. I used Patition magic 7 and put xp on the set. I lost my OS. I created a boot disk from an identical compaq and tried to use the "cd windows\command" line and get message "invalid media type reading drive C:. when I try to fdisk the primary dos partition...I get message that its too large.
hello hope you backed your operateing system up with norton ghost or equivalent. ok you got to set your f disk to have large drive saport. go back in and click on it . it should work fine now. if not enabled dos can only make a 2 gig max partion. try useing your partion magic exmergence boot disks to fix this. you did make them i hope. if your just going to use fdisk than set your first partion and set it to be active. than make your other partions,if your useing more than one o/s youll need a active partion for each. you must make them one at a time.once done those you can make lase partion an extended one .and partion it how you like. have a nice day
