Hi all,

I tried using PM 7 to merge my primary partition and extended partition on ME. It went into dos-mode and did all that lark, then gave me a crc error, whatever that is. It then tries to boot back into windows, but gives me an "Improper system disk" or something along those lines and won't boot up.

Next step I boot in using a boot disk. The partitions are still there and all seems intact, however in the root of my primary partition all I find is a folder called dyn_root. This folder seems to contain everything that was originally in the root.

Anyone know what to do? Will it work to copy everything in dyn_root back to the root directory? Or perhaps change the autoexec.bat?

I've also tried using the Partition Magic rescue disks, however on loading the second disk it says something about EZ-Drive running or something and then carks out. Any ideas what's up with that?

Thanks for any help.

Well for a start you have EZ-Drive drive overlay software which sets up the drive regardless of BIOS limitations http://www.apricorn.com/sup_ezdrive.html.

I would look thru the support site for PM to see what they say about using their software with EZ-Drive as I believe, and I may be wrong, but Partition Magic is reading the drive size at a BIOS level, whereas your actual drive partitions are set by the EZ-Drive software, which adds a small control hidden partition about ?MB, hence difference in size and why PM7 buggered up.
