pages load slow

Ever since I loaded ME, my Netscape browser (4.76) takes its sweet time to load pages. It may do nothing for up to 20 seconds and suddenly the page loads. It also freezes up far more than before. I have a 200MHz machine with 128 megs of RAM hooked up to a cable modem. Any thoughts?

Did you by any chance add memory when you installed ME? The pentium 1 can only cache 64 megs of ram. Droppping more in the system wiil actually slow it down, I'd try taking out 64 megs.

go to www.speedguide.net and click on cable/dsl. there are instructions on how to further optimize your cable/dsl connection. if you don't feel like messing with the registry, you can download a program which automatically optimizes your connection. this program optimizes how much information gets transmitted in each frame and a bunch of other bs. i've done this on a few computers and it has definitely increased internet performance.
