I deleted many emails in the outlook express deleted items page [the second delete is permanent]. Now when Outlook Express is on and I am on Internet Explorer, there is something writing to the hard drive. The amber light is on all the time and you can hear it. I had a similar problem a while back, aand cntl-alt-delete had outlook express-delete highlighted. I ended that task and all was well.. This time, nothing unusual is showing there, but I can't run the 2 together, or the amber light is on and something is making the drive work. I did a system restore, but that didn't help. I need Outlook express to run in the background because of my situation. Please don't tell me to change email. I have other email accounts. I have run Outlook Express and IE together for 2 years and never had a problem.
I do believe it had somethig to do with deleting the emails.. I also did skandisc and defrag with no results... Any Ideas? Thje Newguy

I have for 2 years run IE and Outlook in the background and never had this problem before.I can run one or the other, but not both.. It almost seems like Outlook Express is trying to delete, or is stuck in delete mode, but it doesn't show up in CNTL-ALT Delete... Any ideas....the Newguy..Fix this one and I will buy the beer.....thanks

newguy, just a thought, might not fix anything, try the repair option in OE. Go to add/remove just like you were gonna remove OE. When you select it, a drop down will offer you the option to 'repair'. Maybe??
BTW, pressing ctrl+x will cut highlited text and ctrl+v will paste, Copy/paste is less destructive. Doesn't remove the selected text like cut. Ctrl+ c will copy selected text. HTH.

I went add and remove and never got the repair option, but ended up deleting it by mistake. Anyone know how to get it back? It's not easy being stupid.....

system restore brought it back. I selected OE in add and remove programs, but I didn't get a drop down box. How do I get the drop down box? I do have recovery discs, although I don't know how to use them. Will they be of help to me if I can't get OE running properly? Anyway, system restore is the greatest thing going..Newguy
