I want to swap all my old settings (folders, preferrences, address books, and messages) from my old computer (now across the room) to this new one i'm in the process of setting up. is there an easy way of doing this. i've tried the help sections, but for some reason my old computer wont let me export my messages anytime i try. is there an easy way to do this all at once. so far all i've gotten is the address book from there to here. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance - Jay

Jay, what if you export to drive 'A' on your oldie then import from the disk on the new one?
Ed in Texas.

everytime i try it gives 2 messages.
1st - "this will export messages from outlook express to "outlook" or "exchange".i hit ok *(because it doesn't give me the option of saving to the a drive and then i get
2nd - either there is no default mail client or the current client cannot fulfill the outgoing request. please run microsoft outlook and set it as the default mail client.i dont want to do that....i just wanna somehow get these messages into the other computer as they are in this one. isn't there any way to cut and paste them from a dics i burn from this computer into the outlook folders (whatever directory that would be?) on the new system?

thanks sue - but as i'd stated above, the only thing i've successfully exported is the address book. it's the personal folders and their inbox and message contents that need to be switched....along with my different profiles.

try looking here:
C:\windows\application data\identities\{all sorts of numbers}\microsoft\outlook express
Are the 2 computers networked so that you can acces the old one from the new one? If they are, then you can move the emails to the shared documents or network places files, which ever you use and then to the new computer. That is how I moved mine to the new computer.
If not, you can copy the messages to a floppy or cd if you have a burner, then download them into Outlook Express in the new computer.
Also I'm told you can get a special usb cable to transfer data from old to new computer.
The hard part for me what finding where they were located on the hard drive, which is your problem too I think.
hth good luck.

Have a look,see if this helps;
