Hi there , i have this strange problem win outlook express 6 ( under Win ME ) . When i click send and receive , nothing happens... actually i`m able to see the "sending" window for nothing more than half a second and then it disapears and of course .. no mail has been sent or receibed. That`s not all , if a write an email and then i click on SEND , this msg appears : "The Message could not be sent , an error has ocurred" . And no more information about the cause. I just don`t know what to do ... , i reinstalled Outlook Express , and it didnīt fixed . I even reinstalled Windows ME ( without formating the disk ) and the problem continues ! , Please Help ! thx in advance !
First confirm you have an active internet connection. Once confirmed, double check your email account settings. Make sure they are what your ISP says they should be, call them if you can.
If you're sure you have a ood internet connection, and that the email account settings in Outlook Express are correct, then try additional troubleshooting. Make sure any firewall software you run has outlook express approved to access the internet. Check your windows connection settings by going to internet options in the control panel, then look at the connections tab. Make sure that's all setup correctly as well. (in fact, your ISP should be able to walk you through most of this)
Given what you've said the problem could be any number of things, so you'll have to narrow it down one at a time. As you progress through troubleshooting, detailed help is easier to provide :-)

Ok i fixed it. Listen .., i deleted the .dbx folders , then i restarted outlook , new .dbx where generated and then "send & receive" worked fine. It seems there`s something wrong with the original .dbx mail folders , don`t know what exactly but... after deleting them the problem was gone. That explained why reinstalling windows or outlook express didnīt solve the problem (dbx wherenīt modified ). It`s curious , and it would be interesting to know the real cause. Thx to all ;)
