i am having trouble with my computer being constantly infected with Operserv.worm virus. It has spread into my sysbckup folder and infected the win.ini files within the .cab files. Is it safe to delete that whole directory or not. Or is there a way to be able to clean the win.ini and then put it back into the cab file?

If you mean "Opaserv.worm" then you can find
the removal tools and a heap of other info
related to it on Norton's site.

The URL for the Opaserv.worm tool is:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.opaserv.worm.removal.tool.html

Hope you can get rid of it.

I removed the opaserv.worm virus but now i am left with the infected win.ini files that are in a .cab in my sysbkup folder. Is there a way to edit .cab files by removing a file, cleaning it, then adding it back in? Not just extracting it.

Or should i just delete the whole sysbkup folder?

Disable system restore, reboot, re-enable system restore and reboot.

If you keep getting infected with the Opaserv.worm you need to close your open ports. A good firewall will do this but it is best to close the ports and easy access worms have to your system from the internet.

Go to GRC.com and run Shields UP tests. Read about security there and try to follow advice on closing your ports.- Additional advanced security testing, worm and trojan information and Firewall testing can be found at PC Flank.com.

ok guys i have tried the system restore removing and reboot, but it still has the win.ini files inside my sysbckup .cab files infected.

Sorry to keep pestering, but i would like an answer to these questions:

Is there a way to edit .cab files by removing a file, cleaning it, then adding it back in? Not just extracting it.

Or should i just delete the whole sysbkup folder?
