Operating sistem not found

Mi laptop does not work , it says that the operating sistem has not been found. I ve tried all the advises but it does not work . even with the recovery disk Does anybody knows what eles to do , or does the hard drive is a goner

Is the boot option (in the bios) set to boot from the hard drive first? Do you have any disk inside the machine during bootup? Kevin.
