Can you use Opera alongside other browsers or does it try & take over completely? Unfortunately still need IE for some sites & I wouldn't want to ditch Firefox until I'm happy with a new browser.

No takeovers, it's just another application, and won't interfere with your default browser.

You can install Opera alongside Firefox and IE no problem. Opera does not try to 'take over' as you put it! You can also have more than one web-browser running at the same time without conflict so you can switch between them more quickly, though doing this does use up more RAM which may slow down your PC if it doesn't have much to start with.

I've tried Opera - quite impressed, just a couple of queries. Does Opera support extensions for additional functionality? Specifically I would like an ad-blocker and the option of a right click menu addition to open a page in IE - there are still a lot of companies who refuse to accept that IE isn't the only browser!

OK, I've given it a go - quite impressed but a couple of things either missing or I haven't found yet.
There's no warning if you close the window (ie multiple tabs) accidentally rather than just one tab - I like the waste recover option but it's still a bit of a pain.
Can you add extensions such as ad-blocking & the option to open a page in IE (many sites still think IE is the only browser!)

Sorry, given Opera a go & it's pi**ed me off - check a couple of posts on the ME forum - it seems that Opera doesn't update posts - have had no problem with that using Firefox or IE so can only guess it's an Opera glitch. See you on the next release.......

That's entirely up to you - but I'm pretty doubtful that a couple of days is enough time to really familiarize yourself with it.

Not like I owned shares or anything though...
