When I right click on a file and select the option " open with -> choose program " the window to choose the program delays too much to open ( over 30 seconds ).

Gas, I timed it on my machine and it took approx 12 sec.Perhaps it has something to do with the amount of programs installed on your machine? I really have no answer so this is just a guess.
