Comment:
I downloaded some files off the internet to a temporary file/folder. I have forgotten how to open that file, can someone help? I looked in help and typed in Temporary Files and it did not give me the information. Thanks in advance.
in windows explorer go to tools/folder/view options on the top bar and uncleck hide file extensions for known file types
save another test file and see the path and the folder it is saved into. go to that folder and right click on the file and "Open With" a program the file type is compatible with
for example a .htm or a .html can be opened with IE browser window.
a JPG file or any image file can be opened with a graphics suite like Adobe, MS Paint, Photoinpact etc.
a music file can be opened with WINAMP or WIndows media player.
Go to Start > Search > For Files or Folders... and type "C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\" (no quotes) in the "Look In:" field. In the "Search for files or folders named:" field, you can type the name of the file (omit the extension) or leave it blank. Click Search Now, and it will display the files.
You can search for files by the date they were created, modified or last accessed. Also search for the file types... jpg mp3 bitmap etc. start - search - files & folders. Also you can look in ... my computer - c:drive - windows - temp & tmp & temporary internet files.
If you open My Computer and go to C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\, it will display your cookies and not the Temporary Internet Files. To see the Temporary Internet Files, I recommend using Search in the Start Menu.
