one usb port for web cam and camera

I bought a web cam a long time ago which uses one of my two usb port. I have a Dell Dimension running Windows ME. The other port is used for my hp printer. I have just recently bought a Olympus digital camera which claims that connection between the camera and the usb is plug-n-play. I don't use the web cam anymore. Can you just plug the camera into the webcam usb port without any reconfiguration? or, do I have to uninstall the web cam driver first?
