Hi folks,

Whenever I right click on the desktop and try to create a new HTML document, I get the following error dialog:

*Unable to create the file "New HTML document.html"

Access is denied.*

Ok, what's up with this? Anyone know where I can find the fix for this in the registry, or is this something I've screwed up on my own and is irretrievable? So far, I've gotten by on making text files on the desktop and using DOS's "ren" command on them, but it's kind of slow.

Any ideas? Thanks

Kasreyn

Download and install Tweak UI (for 2K and ME)
Several options that might help you. Repair all shortcuts, repair registry, etc. If that doesn't get it come back and then someone can find the reg entry to blame

Another thought go to My Comp./Tools/Folder options/File Types........scroll down to .HTML...at this point you can fool with the options or remove it completely. If you remove it then immedately go to a document that you know and when opening it you will be presented with the open with diag. box....then choose open with Iexplore and that might fix it,,,,somehow the right context menue select shortcut was broken

You can also use system restore and get back to a time whan it worked, however back your stuff from in between up off of the machine

One of these will work

If you get bored, you can always re-install ME over the top of it's self.

or just make a text file, type in your code and then when you save it do "save as" and add the "htm" or "html" extension...
