Hello everybody,
I hope you can help me with the below:
I have a laptop with a problematic hard disk. I tried to format it and reinstall Windows again on it, using the recovery floppy disk and the CDs I got when I bought the laptop but it kept crashing again after a few days. Every time I was doing a new install with oemsetup, i got a prompt asking me for the system serial number, and there was space there for 10 characters. After putting the hardware serial number, I could continue with the installation.
What happened today, is that when I run the oemsetup program, the very same prompt appears but only with space for 9 characters! I can not therefore type all the characters of the system serial code and as a result the installation aborts :-(
Any ideas will be very much appreciated
Many thanks
Andreas

Before you go any further, check out your hard drive.
