Hi...

I recently bought an Xtasy Everything (a GeForce2 MX 400 card with an external video tuner). I installed it on a Pentium IV 1.6 Ghz running Windows ME. When I installed the card and the tuner it worked perfectly. I could watch cable through my pc with no problem. On day , I tried to switch to a SVHS input in WinDVR (the software player that allows me to se cable using the tuner), after I made the switch the device stopped working. I noticed that on the device manager the Nvidia capture driver was having a conflict while the rest of the drivers were working perfectly (NVIDIA Tuner, the Crossbar , etc)
I have downloaded the latest wdm drivers from Visiontek (makers of the product) and from NVIDIA but he problem still remains.

I took the device to a friend of mine and it works fine on his machine (running windows 98)

Can someone help me out???

Hi Brant:

I have searched the Microsoft support database and found out that the problem usually occurs when the Nvidia drivers have conflict with the operating systems (98,ME, XP, 2000) WDM drivers. But they don't give a solution to it. I have written to Visiontek and informed them about this...

So far I haven't received any answer from them. Perhaps we are going to have to wait for a new release of the WDM drivers

If I know something else...I'll let you guys know

Just one question? I it was working perfectly, why would you change anything? I know this doesn't help but, I would really like to know.

Hi Dave:

I apologize for not explaining that well. I was watching cable using the tuner and the WinDVR program that came in the software bundle. So far everything was ok. I decided to try and capture some videos from my vcr. In order to do that you have to manually change some settings in the WinDVR program. You have to manually change from TV to S-vhs to begin receiving input from the vcr. After that...the equipment stopped working.

I received a reply from Visiontek informing me that that happened quite a lot ....According to them, I should deinstall the WDM Drivers first, then the WinDVR program and the nvidia display driver last.

I did just that but the problem still remains....

Hello.

I have a question of my own. I bought an MSI Geforce 2 that has an svideo in. I downloaded the latest NVIDIA Universal Capture Device Driver for WIN XP. the installer said i successfully installed my driver but I couldn't access my capture card using any program. I've tried using
using WINcoder and Adobe Premiere. I'm at best, just a novice computer user. Please help me.

i recently had a problem with my tv tuner after changing my color depth to 32 bit from 16 bit.
at 32 bit color, i lost full screen and could not run in overlay mode.
Try checking your color depth setting if you are having problems. Adjust and see if it fixes it.
Good luck.

... as a side note:
WDM drivers install as software. You can't fiddle with the device manager devices, but you can remove the drivers through add/rem programs. Once the software is uninstalled, go to device manager and remove all the references to wdm drivers in the sound/video/game category.
I say this because you say you have a capture card when these nVidia WDM drivers are looking for the TVTuner daughter card for the geForce, which you didn't mention you have.
I still can't cap in win 2k with my pinnaclesys studio pcTV pci card. Everytime i try my system seizes.

thanks for the reply.

actually, i did get the nvidia driver for the card. i'm still lost. a friend of mine says that i need to get a capture program that'll make use of the driver, or maybe a plug-in for premiere that'll help it recognize my hardware. is this true? what programs or plug-ins are these and where might I download them?

same with u all!
I bought MSI G3Ti200VT with VIVO hoping that i could capture same video but that damn thing doesn't work at all

Tried everything included changing os, changing the wdm driver, change the capture application. Nothing works !

My friend computer use the same VGA
but he managed to capture a vid

Does the mb chipset hold important role?
'cause my friend uses SIS instead VIA

This is sucks ! I should buy asus instead
Never let me down at capturing vid

well, i at least know that the motherboard chipset does not play a role, because i use the most popular SiS chipset, and i also have this problem with a xtasy GeForce4 mx420, i also have been able to get the tv out to work on a friends digital camcorder, but when i go onto device manager it says nvidia wdm capture driver (universal) and there is an exclamation point by it, im thinking of trying to reinstall the drivers from the cd, but, im not sure if that will work, i pray to freagin God that someone finds an answer for this crazy problem

I'm using an ECS K7s5a which uses the SIS 730 chipset. I wonder if hardware compatibility is really the problem. I haven't ever experienced any probs with my system. it's just that i can't cap. I wonder if it's true that we need programs that can actually make use of our WDM drivers.

It's me again !!!
I had checked my friends compie
he had k7s6a with winme on it,nothing special! use onboard sound and that's all!
But he can perfectly capture his tv fave program without hassel!

Maybe this might bit a help to u all guys!
I ask @ some forum and they said that the nvidia driver must be change to 23.11 ( my friend used it too )
haven't tried that 'cause want to formatted HDD and start it all over again.

DOes IRQ Sharing affect the capture driver and it's apllication ?

Will try to inform anything new !

something that might be a put down to your problems, MAYBE xtasy was too lazy to make their drivers hardware specific, and our graphics cards really dont even have capture cabability, i mean, it would be GREAT if they did, cause the tv out on mine works great, and so i could throw away my old all in wonder pro, but, this is just an idea, oh yes, and also the drivers that were conflicting have dissapeared off device manager alltogether!!! HELP!!!

Well, that thought crossed my head. MSI is known for their mother boards. Even when you check out their website, there's little or no info on my video card. It is possible that I got suckered into a vid card that doesn't cap or anything else.

Dag nab it. What next?

I recently bought a MSI ti4200 with the vivo ability. I've re/uninstalled numerous times and my capture still hasn't worked. I get the same !exclamation mark! beside the device when I check for its status. I'm running XPpro on a PIII 800 with an Asus board. Still not sure why there is this problem but it really is frustrating. I'm getting a tech guy from the store where I bought it from to look into why? As soon as I find out I'll post something on Jul 21 pm. Wish me luck.
Ciao.
