Having used System Restore, I have now lost several applications, mainly graphic manipulation programs. When attempting to use them I get the message "The MSACM32.DLL file is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL:NtClose". This is followed by " A device attached to the System is not functioning". Device Manager shows that everything is OK and working and the file NTDLL.DLL is in the Windows System file. Unfortunately I cannot go back any further with System Restore as for some unexplained reason it has dropped all earlier restore points ! Can anyone help, please and save my sanity?

Apparently, you installed the applications after the Restore point. I don't use System Restore, but as far as I know, you'll have to reinstall the applications, even if they're on the drive because they're not in the registry.

Thanks for that, Renaissance Man, but I'm afraid it's no help. The restore point was months after I installed most of the affected programs. Any further help from anyone would be appreciated.

hello you will have to reinstall soft ware. system restore after its full to make new restore points deletes old ones.if you set for the 10% default you might have been able to go back more but soft ware would still have been unistald if instald after the restore point used. have a nice day
