I was recently given an hp pavillion 7940 because it wouldnt boot up. As soon as i turn it on the hp logo comes up then goes to a black screen saying ntdetect failed. He didnt give me any recovery cds and thats kind of hurting me right now. Is there any way to fix this without having to buy the recovery disks? I was thinking of making a clone of my other hard drive which is a later version of the HP but has the recovery disks partitioned on the hard drive. Thanks to anyone who can help me on this

Scroll down to #61.
You'll need the XP installation disk.
