I downloaded what was supposed to be a free trial of an anti-virus program. However, after I restarted my computer after the setup was complete, (as it instructed me to do) almost every program of my computer would not start. An error message appears when I try to start a program. It says "Windows cannot find (whatever program it is). You may have typed the name incorrectly in the Run dialog, or another open program cannot find a system file. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search." And when I try to run the system restore the same thing happens. I think that maybe somehow an essential file may have been deleted, however I have no idea how to fix this problem, nor do I know how it happened. Please give me some help if you can. thanks

have you tried doing a system restore to a point before you installed the virus prog ? andy

The antivirus program removed a virus but did not repair the altered .exe file association. Download McAfee's Fixswen.inf file and right click on it and choose install. It will repair any file associations altered by the virus. FixSwen.inf
