hi, i posted this message previously but it seems you got me wrong, what i meant was i wanted the startup logo to appear not to disappear.
here is my original message.
"Don't know if anyone else has come across this but when my PC boots up, it displays the startup screen for about half a second then the screen just goes black with a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner while it continuing to load. I have tried putting a Logo=1 under Options in Msdos.sys but it makes no difference, i also tried to disable the options in msconfig (the startup logo appears when running the computer in the safe mode) but with no result.
Any suggestions anyone ??? "

Ah...you're talking about the Windows Splash screen I think (?). In theory, you'd simply reverse the procedure illustrated in this article but you say you've already tried that and it didn't work?
Theoretically, you should be able to extract a new copy of the IO.SYS file which processes the splash screen from the installation CD. It will be located in one of the Cab files, but I don't know which one.
What might be worth a try though is to create a Windows Startup disk in Add/Remove Programs/ Windows Setup and then boot to that. At the A: prompt, type "sys c:" (without quotes) and hit Enter. "Sys c:" transfers the system files to the hard drive.

the splash screen in ME only pops up for a second or two, depending on how fast the cpu
is. on my k6/2-500 it just flashes on and then off and thats it, i dont see it again.
if thats the only problem you have then it's pretty trivial, just learn to live with it.

try using x-setup tweaking utility
it has an option to enable disable
the logo.
try to enable\ disable it at first
and undo it upon restarting.
it fixed my problem maybe you are
lucky too..
