Comment:

When I start up my computer, The monitor dosen't display anything, and the monitor status light stays yellow. I can't check out anything in the system because the screen is black. I have tried the monitor in my other computer(Pentium III), and it works. I tried the computer with my other system's monitor, and it doesn't work there either.
After 3 minutes the computer shuts down. I'm thinking it may be the video card, but why would the computer shut off after 3 minutes.
Is there any way to troubleshoot, when you can't see the screen.

Thanks
RonH

Hi RonH.

I would try this.

Turn computer off.

Remove the video card.

Start computer while holding the F8 key to get into Safe Mode.

Safe Mode uses standard VGA which is built into windows ME.

If your monitor shows the Safe Mode screen then something is wrong with the video card.

Maybe it came loose or something.

But if you get into Safe Mode you will be able to troubleshoot from there.

Take care,

Linda
