No sound problem in DivX AVI

In have dvd film in avi. Codec -- DivX. I have install DivX Pro 5.0.2. Try to play -- DivX player, Media Player, other... No sound. Media Player say: i need decoder. But when it try connect with microsoft site: "Unable to download an appropriate decompressor. (Error=80040200)". What wrong?

I think DivX is for macintosh CPU's. So everything on a macintosh CPU is coded differently than that of Windows. Therefore, you would need a program that decodes Macintosh to Windows. I don't know of any sites that have those programs yet but e-mail me your e-mail address and I'll see what I can do to find you a URL.

My daughters kept installing programs into my home computer that caused my computer to run slow, so I went into add/remove programs and deleted all the programs that I was unfimiliar with and I think that I deleted a file that my sound card used. Anyway I cannot hear any sound via my speakers anymore, but prior to this my sound was fine. Thanks for any advice you can give me.
