Comment:
I have a dual boot windows ME/W2K. I can't get the sound to work in ME. It works fine in W2K. BIOS says the on board sound is enabled, and I have loaded the VIA sound drivers in both systems. In ME, device manager says the hardware is installed but something unknown is preventing it working.
Any idea what it could be, or how I could test? As I use ME for games and 2000 for everything else, I'd prefer the sound problem to be the other way 'round!
First thing is to open any audio related programs and make sure the volume is turned up. This inlcudes making sure the mute option isnt checked in windows volume control. The next thing is to run directX diagnostic utility if the sound problem only occurs in games. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DXDIAG.EXE Third thing is to list any error messages youve experienced. Forth thing is to wait for someone who knows what they are talking about to repsond.
When I frist recieved my PC , which came preloaded with Windows Me . I had sound problems, sometimes sound most of the time no sound ? After hours with tech support trying to fix the problem , checking every setting , came to the conclusion it was the onboard audio (intergrated sound ) . I installed a sound card in a PCI slot and never have had a sound problem since. My brother purchased a PC , same exact thing , problem with onboard audio and Windows Me ?
I just installed Windows ME and I have no sound!!!!!! I have downloaded all the drivers for Sound Blaster Live Value off of the Creative website, checked to make sure the mute button is not activated, and still no sound!!
Can someone with knowledge of this material please email me at madnessfour@hotmail.com to help. That would be greatly apreciated.
