Hey all-
Okay, I'm so frustrated with this stupid thing. A few days ago I tried playing music on my computer and it gave me an error message. I then noticed that the little speaker icon was no longer at the bottom right corner. As far as I can tell, from exploring my computer, that its somehow not installed anymore. I really have no clue how to fix this, but I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks for any replies!

kasi23,

First, it would be a real PLUS to know what the error message was, with that said.

Go to Control Panel>>Sounds and Multimedia

This will bring up Sounds and Multimedia Properties. On this (lower left side) is the [] checked by; Show volume contol on taskbar.

Also, Control Panel>>Add/Remove Programs>>Windows Setup(Tab)>>Single click Multimedia>>click [Details](button)>>Is the [] checked by Volume Control.

Like I said would of been a plus to know what the error message was.

Good Luck

click on the windows button, then run and type systray This will bring back the icon into the system tray. The file is found in the Windows/System folder. For the master volume pop up window type sndvol32 and you can adjust volume levels for several features(the same as right-clicking on the speaker icon). This file is found in the Windows folder.
