My computer has no sound. The sound was working one day, and then the next my whole computer was screwed up. To make a long story short, I got everything fixed except the sound. Here's what's up:

1)It is not a hardware issue. Everything is connected fine and my sound card which came with the computer is fine.

2)I have not installed any new hardware

3)I reinstalled the sound drivers and they work fine for a little while. It even says that they are working properly but it says that it can't operate due to an unknown cause.

4)After a few reboots there is an error with the device drivers again

5)If I try a voice test it says Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe

6)There is no sound icon in my taskbar like there always was when I had sound.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I think that one of my windows files is either corrupt or missing. Please relply if you have an idea. Thanx.

Dont write off the hardware problem, I have seen intermitantly problems in memory boards and any kind of boards. The only way you can know for sure is by installing another card (from an old computer, may a friends?) that you are sure is working.

You can also try installing the card to another slot.
