No sound after avi to mpeg

I have just downloaded an avi movie (with sound) which I have to convert to mpeg and then burn as a VCD in order to play on the DVD machine. All these conversions go well but when I play the VCD in the machine I get a good picture but the sound is no longer there, any ideas?? Thank you.

wat kind of mpeg converter are u using? i would suggest DVDX 2.0, it has a wide range of dvd encoding features between any movie format available. did u check to see the program u are currently using doesnt have any registration restrictions?
