no Power Options in Control Panel
Name: Hal P Date: December 26, 2003 at 13:39:24 Pacific OS: Win ME CPU/Ram: not sure
Comment:
For some reason, Power Options doesn't show up for me in Control Panel. The powercfg.cpl file exists, but when I try to open it, nothing happens.

How did you try to open it?
Try this: Start>Run and type in
control.exe powercfg.cpl then press enter.
Make sure there is a single space after exe.

Open the control panel (or any Windows Explorer window)>tools>folder options>view and put a checkmark to show all contents of Control Panel, click okay.

Do you have TweakUI? There are checkboxes to display some/all of the Control Panel applets...just a thought.

I don't have TweakUI. Other than that, none of the suggestions worked. I've tried opening powercfg.cpl via Start>Run, I've tried going to it in Windows Explorer, etc., and nothing ever works. And even when Control Panel is set to show me everything, it still doesn't show me Power Options.

I can get to mine through display properties (right click an empty area of your desktop>properties), screensaver tab, power saving options>settings (button).

I tried that, and interestingly, nothing happens when I click on Properties.
I also tried going to Control Panel and clicking on Display, because I think there may be something similar there... and nothing happened with THAT, either!
