No mouse/display on exit from BIOS

I recently asked a friend to go into the BIOS to CHECK something and he did. When he exited out of BIOS (after discarding changes), however, he complained over the phone of having a 'dark' desktop and no mouse. He claimed internet access still worked but was 'really big' (which I guess means the resolution was changed). When attempting to change the graphics settings he claimed he was unable to. Any suggestions would be wonderful thanks

I'd like to add that I believe it may have gone into a sort of safemode (although internet access isn't allowed in it) given the fact that I have read from other posts that sometimes in safemode the mouse doesn't appear, and the color sounds like it was at 16 or 256 color at 640x480 resolution.

I think your friend probably changed the Video Configuration settings in BIOS.
Is your friend's video card for PCI or AGP?

I believe his card is an AGP because I have the same video card and shows up in the BIOS as AGP (I'm not too great with hardware but I distinctly remember seeing AGP on the BIOS and not PCI). How could the mouse just disappear though thats the kicker :(
