I purchased my Windows ME in November 2000,
I have just recently tried to start a home based business and have learned that I need a
25 character key code to use Microsoft Word
2000. I do not have the key code, I have information in my kit telling me about the key code but, the key code is not in any of
my paper work and I have everything that came with my computer. Please help what can I
do now to get a key code or certificate of
of authenticity for my computer? Thank You for your help.

Saundra,

The code will be on the box or envelop that the Word 2000 CD disk came in.

Most computers do not come with Word 2000 only and especially do not come as an uninstalled CD in the computer box.

Dispite this (you may be mixed up as to what you have) if you bought Word 2000 as a package deal when you got your computer you will need to call the computer manufacturer for the key.

Some computers ship with office 2000 products such as word.
If this is the case the pc should have come with an office or word 2000 disk which will have the key somewhere on a box/cd cover/paperwork as tim suggested.
In any case being that the software was preinstalled the key would have been inserted already if needed.
This kind of thing differs from PC to PC. Your best bet would be to call up the computer makers techsupport and ask them. IF this is an error i bet your not the only whos complained and they will have a fix or instructions for you to obtain the correct product key.

I had the same problem with ME when I tried to run Office 97. It is a known problem with Microsoft. I downloaded a patch from the Microsoft knowledge base. It worked fine after that.
