Try opening the "Program Files" folder and locating the "Windows Update" folder and then deleting the "Windows update" folder.

This will clear all the old files and force Windows Update to download all new control files. (It may take a reboot and several tries to get it working OK.)

I did not even realize that the Windows Update site had changed to yesterday when I went there . I believe I was successful in updating the software for the new update software. My complaint is that , under veiwing your update history , everything is gone.I have an ATI Graphics card and it had as one of my recomended updates a driver update from ATI ? I guess this new update site is inter connected with other tech co. ? I did not install the driver update . I figure everthing is working why mess with it .Plus I dont have DirectX 8.1 installed and there is a good chance this update requires it. Try sending Microsoft an email about your problem , they are usally good about helping with this kind of problem!

Could be that update problem is connected to IE 6. I retained IE 5.5 SP 2 by choice and updated untel chip driver with no problem. I can also view installion history. I have not updated active-X because why mess with it when ME runs fine for me. Less is better.
MS really wants you to upgrade to XP, no doubt about it.

I also visited Windows Update yesterday and noticed the difference in the site, (better site) I successfully downloaded and installed one update.

Note the asterisk * after the OS indicating that this must be installed separately from other updates (I believe I first had to use the Remove button to remove one update before downloading and installing).
