Hi!
I need to do a use the CD system recovery disk because I can't solve a display problem. The problem is I put the disk in and then start it up and it goes to
Windows ME---not to a menu to restore like it said it would. I Have tried putting the disk in and then restarted and that wouldn't work either. Nothing has worked. Does anyway have a way I can get it to show the menu so I can restore the computer to the factory settings? Please help. I am so frustrated with this. Thank you!

Hi D.
If you are trying to boot up from the CD, you may have to go into your BIOS and reset the computer to boot up from the CD drive. Then after you finish restoring the computer go back into the BIOS and reset it to boot up from the C: drive or whatever drive it had originally been set on.
Also, some restore disks come with a floppy disk as well as the CD.
In this case you would need the floppy in the floppy drive at the same time you boot up, since the floppy disk would be the boot up disk.
Different computers have different ways of getting into the BIOS. On boot up it may show on screen what key to push to get into the BIOS.
Take care,Linda

Each and every single computer maker does it differently. Answer itmdtr's question or visit your computer makers support site for the information.

You would be better off asking for help to solve your display problem. Almost guarenteed someone on here will know the answer. If no-one can help you, you should try SYSTEM RESTORE first. ie...
START - PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - SYSTEM TOOLS - SYSTEM RESTORE. This is less drastic than what you are proposing to do and may solve the problem.
If you chose this option, leave the restore program to run for at least 40 minutes, don't assume it has stopped running and try to abort the process, because this does cause problems - be patient.
Post back with the display problem.

Hi,
I have put the recovery CD in the machine and rebooted but it never recognized the recovery CD.
I have an IBM 1200 series thinkpad.
I just want to get the computer display back to normal. Thanks for everyone's help.
